01What "Odoo partner" means

What the partner tiers tell you.

The official Odoo partner programme is real and worth understanding. Here is what it measures, plainly, and what to verify yourself.

01

The programme

Odoo S.A. runs an official partner programme. Firms join at Learning level and move up to Ready, Silver and Gold as their Odoo Enterprise business and their number of certified consultants grow. Listed partners appear on odoo.com and may use the "Odoo Partner" name.

Learning → Ready → Silver → Gold
02

What it tells you

That the firm has an established Odoo Enterprise practice, certified consultants, and a direct relationship with Odoo S.A. A higher tier reflects scale and experience with the official product line, which matters most on large or multi-country rollouts.

Licence volume, certifications, escalation path
03

What completes the picture

The tiers describe the firm; your project is decided by fit. Industry experience, the team on your account, a clear scope and how support runs after go-live all come out naturally in the first conversation, and the section below walks through them.

Fit, team, scope, support
02How to choose well

Six things a good choice rests on.

Whichever firm you go with, these are the areas a good first conversation naturally covers. A strong partner, listed or independent, will be comfortable in all six.

Fit with your industry

An implementer who has worked in your sector already understands your workflows, which shortens the project and the learning curve on both sides.

Experience

The team you will work with

Projects go best when you know the consultant and developers on your account and they stay with you after go-live.

People

Scope and budget clarity

A written scope and a clear price after discovery keep the project and the relationship healthy. So does knowing how changes are handled.

Pricing

The full three-year picture

Implementation, licences, hosting and support together are the real cost. Understanding all four up front avoids surprises later.

Cost

Ownership and continuity

Agree early where the system lives, who holds the data, and what the arrangement is if you ever change partners. Odoo being open source makes continuity easy to secure in the contract.

Ownership

Life after go-live

Training, support arrangements and response times matter more in month seven than in the sales meeting. It is worth understanding them before you start.

03Official partner or independent implementer

Both can be right. Match the partner to the project.

Listed Odoo partners

On odoo.com. Sell Enterprise licences. Tiered by volume.
  • Direct escalation to Odoo S.A. for Enterprise bugs and licence questions
  • Certified consultants on the standard modules
  • Comfortable choice for large groups, multi-country rollouts and boards that want a logo
  • One contract covering licences, hosting and implementation, if you want a single vendor
Fits Enterprise-first buyers who value the official line to Odoo over local depth.

Independent implementers

Judged by delivered work. No licence commission.
  • Often deep in specific industries, custom modules and integrations
  • Priced on the work itself, with licences and hosting billed to you directly
  • Quality varies by firm, which is why industry fit and references matter
  • No odoo.com listing; references and live systems have to do the talking
Fits SMEs that want a system they own, built by the people they will call.
04Where Sahal sits

Where Sahal sits.

Sahal Innovations Ltd is an independent Odoo implementation company based in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, working with Kenyan businesses since 2021. We recommend Odoo Enterprise for most clients and earn nothing on the licence. The system runs on a server in your name, and every module we build is delivered as source code you keep.

We have built for cargo, bus parcels, real estate, pharmacies, hardware and SACCOs, so most projects start from industry experience rather than a blank page. We quote a fixed price against a written scope after discovery, train in English or Kiswahili, and offer an optional monthly support plan with a 24-hour weekday response. M-Pesa, eTIMS and Kenyan payroll come as standard.

01

Who does the work

Our own consultants and developers, based in Nairobi, on your account from discovery to support.

02

Industry modules

Cargo consolidation, bus parcels, property units and payment plans, pharmacy expiry tracking, station management. Built, running, and yours to keep.

03

Ownership and pricing

Your server, your data, your source code. Fixed price against a written scope. Enterprise licences and hosting billed to you directly; we add nothing to them.

04

After go-live

Training for your team, and an optional monthly support plan with a 24-hour weekday response.

05Questions we get asked

Odoo partners in Kenya, answered.

Is Sahal Innovations an official Odoo partner?
Sahal Innovations is an independent Odoo implementation company in Nairobi. We implement Odoo Enterprise, with licences billed to you by Odoo directly, and we support existing Community systems. We are glad to walk you through examples of our work in your industry on a call.
How many Odoo partners are there in Kenya?
Odoo.com lists a small number of official partners for Kenya, around five at the time of writing, at Learning, Silver and Gold levels. Beyond those there are many independent implementers of varying quality, from one-person shops to established firms. The listing is a useful starting point; industry fit and references complete the choice.
What does "Gold Partner" actually mean?
Gold is the top tier of Odoo's partner programme, awarded for annual Odoo Enterprise licence sales above a threshold and a number of certified staff. It signals scale and a strong relationship with Odoo S.A. Pair it with references in your industry and the checks above to complete the picture.
Does an official partner cost more?
Not necessarily. Pricing varies more by firm than by tier. Compare the full three-year cost, implementation, licences, hosting and support, across your shortlist rather than any single line.
Do I need a partner at all for Odoo Community?
You do not need a listed partner, since there is no licence to buy. You do need someone who has taken Community through Kenyan accounting, payroll and compliance before, because that is where do-it-yourself installations stall. We would also ask you to look hard at Enterprise first: for most businesses the licence costs less than the custom work Community needs to catch up.
Can a partner outside Kenya implement Odoo for a Kenyan business?
Technically yes, and many do. The gaps show up in the local details: withholding VAT, the Housing Levy, a branch that loses power at 4pm, training the stores team in Kiswahili, and being on site when the first month-end goes wrong. Ask a foreign partner which Kenyan client they will let you call.
Can I switch Odoo partners mid-project or after go-live?
Yes, if you own the system: the server in your name, the database, and the source code of any custom modules. If your partner holds the server and the code, switching means rebuilding. Settle ownership in the contract before the project starts. Taking over stalled Odoo projects is a regular part of our work.
What if my partner disappears?
Odoo is open source and widely supported, so a properly delivered system is never orphaned: another implementer can pick it up. That only works if you hold the server, the database and the module source code, and if your setup was documented. Those four things are the real insurance, not the badge.
